The Peach Lab is interested in the pharmacology of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs), particularly how receptor biology (pharmacology) is modulated by the local microenvironment (cell biology). Exploring diseases from neurodegenerative diseases to chronic pain, we set out to explore the intricacies of RTK regulation, with a view to ultimately develop better drugs to treat patients.
Beyond considering how drugs work, pharmacology is asking how future drugs could work by exploring receptor/ligand binding, signalling and trafficking.
Receptors do not exist in isolation. How is their biology modulated by novel protein-protein interactions, the extensive extracellular matrix or the acidic pH in subcellular endosomes?
